Chapter Five

Dinah drifted slowly awake, stretching onto her side. A body pillow lay against her. One eye peeked enough to see she was still in the living room. She let out a soft breath. Usually the guys carried her to bed.

She heard low voices. Her eye peeked again. In the darkness, lit only by low light streaming in from the windows, she could make out their profiles. They sat on the love seat. Letting the eye close, she lay still again, straining to hear.

The pillow rested right by her nose. Taylor’s woodsy scent radiated from it. She buried her nose a little more in it to sniff.

Rustling sounded from the loveseat. She stilled her body. The cottony fabric tickled her nostrils. No sneezing.

“She’s back settled. Let’s try and keep our voices down so we don’t wake her up,” Ian said.

“I wasn’t being loud.”

Ian snorted lightly. “Now how do you figure that? What you told me.”

“Because I’m in your life, and I don’t mind sharing you. Unlike her.”

They must be talking about Cait. Dinah swallowed. She didn’t want to see them arguing. Not that she could see them, but she could hear it. It chilled her. She pulled the blanket further up, shuddering a little. Their positions didn’t audibly change, and they kept talking. They must not have noticed her moving.

“Neither does she. Mind sharing me, that is.”

“Since fucking when?”

“The last time she and I talked, she told me that.”

“When did you two talk last?”

“I ran into her a week or so ago for the first time since forever. She wanted another chance as our third. I told her about Dinah.”

“Ian.” Taylor blew out a heavy breath. “Don’t you think it’s odd she’d turn up now? Now that we have Dinah in our lives more than we did.”

“No, lover, I don’t. I think it’s coincidence. I don’t understand your feelings toward her.”

“Last time she was around, we almost broke up.”

“She regrets all that. Says she’s grown. And doesn’t have a problem with a threesome anymore.”

Another rustle. “You are so naïve it’s not funny.”

“Like you’re worldly?”

Taylor let loose a snicker. She’d expected anger. Not amusement.

“Bite me.”

“Gladly.”

Both of them chuckled. And Taylor groaned.

Dinah opened her eyes enough to see that Ian had taken up the offer he’d himself made. Ian looked attached to Taylor’s neck. And it looked as if his hand was in Taylor’s lap. She could almost imagine Ian’s smooth hand on the bulge.

“We are ...” Taylor’s breath hitched. “... trying things still with Dinah. Right?”

“Oh yeah. I don’t intend to give up.” Ian sounded winded. She couldn’t see him, but wondered what Taylor was giving back to him. She’d bet it was a hand job through his pants as Ian was doing to him if Ian could reach him. The speculation about what they were doing to each other made her heart pound.

“Good.”

“Bedroom?” She heard the rustle of them getting off the furniture.

“She probably won’t wake up for a while. We’ll bring her to bed ... after ...”

Soft footsteps plodded across the floor.
